Displaying Labor Cost on Financial Pages

This article explains the options for displaying on financial pages the labor cost derived from the demand forecast on the Labor page.

Overview

There are two ways the cost of labor assignments can rolled up into labor cost assignments on financial pages:

  1. Automatically on all financial pages using a configured rollup algorithm, or
  2. Manually by user command on individual Project>Detail financial pages using a custom stored procedure.

When a ResourceFirst environment is configured, the organization must decide which Organization Breakdown Structure (OBS) to use for financial assignments: the resource OBS or the cost center OBS.

If cost center OBS (CCOBS) is chosen, the only method supported is manual calculation using the cost center stored procedure.

If resource OBS (ROBS) is chosen, both options are available, automatic and manual.

If automatic creation of labor cost is enabled, the assignments are created/updated whenever a financial page is activated.

If manual creation is configured, the Post Labor Cost icon appears on Project>Detail>Financial pages only. When the icon is clicked, summary labor cost assignments are created and updated on the detail financial page. The labor cost assignments for that project also appear on the Assignment>Financial page.

The method used to create labor cost assignments is:

  • Calculate the cost of each labor assignment using the configured cost rates
  • Summarize labor assignments into labor cost assignments using the configured method (stored procedure or administered financial labor algorithm)

Post of actuals is not supported but can be provided upon request: contact your PDWare representative for assistance.
