Managing Assignment Issues

This series of articles explores how to address assignment issues, such as demand shortfall (overallocation), non-optimal resource utilization, and finding candidates to fill skill needs.

Overview

In addition to entering and modifying assignments, ResourceFirst has a variety of features to facilitate addressing issues with assignments, such as:

  • Converting some or all of a resource assignment to a general skill need (either because the resource is overbooked, is transferred to another project, or is no longer available)
  • Finding candidates to fill skill assignments (i.e., filling skill needs with named resources)
  • Optimizing resource allocation (by allocating “committed” assignments first, or viewing shortfall analysis assuming all skill needs are met within available capacity)
