WBS Field Definitions

Field

Description

Outline

Locked: "+" and "-" outline symbols are in summary task rows.

"+" expands to the next level of subtasks below the summary.

"-" hides all subtasks below the summary.

Change Flag

Locked: "N" means the task or row was created in the current WBS session and has not been saved to the database.

"C" means a change has been made to the value of at least one field of the task. Changes include row position, subtask level, dependency relationships.

Row #

Locked: Task row number in the WBS table(s).

Task Name

Free form: User defined task name. These names should be unique but uniqueness is not enforced.

Duration

Numeric entry:  Duration of the task in work days (5 days per week).

If the Start date is changed, the finish date is calculated by adding duration to the start date.

If the Finish date is changed, the duration is calculated as the difference between start and finish.

Start

Date entry:  Start date of the task.

Finish

Date entry:  Finish date of the task.

Task ID

Calculated: The outline type summary index of a task, e.g. 1.1.1 or 2.3.5.6.

Lead

Free form: The name of team member who is responsible for the task.

Baseline Start & Finish

Display:  If a project baseline is taken in PDWare Portfolio and there is a WBS plan, the task dates are captured as the named baseline. Baselines are usually given a name appropriate to the phase gate at which the baseline is authorized.

When a WBS is opened, the current (most recent) baseline is used to populate task baseline dates.

Work

Calculated: The total defined work effort of all resources required for the task during the current PDWare "Get Data" periods. 

Actual

Display:  Actual work effort tracked to tasks in the PDWare iTeam product are displayed in this field.

Baseline

 Display: The current baseline resource plan work effort in full time equivalent work periods (as defined by the Get Data parameters).

% Complete

Controlled entry: The user can enter any value from 0 to 100% to capture the approximate amount of work done on the task (assuming a constant level of effort over the task duration).

State

List field: Select a value from a drop down list; (empty), Not started, Started, Complete.

Comment

Free form: Text entry.

Predecessors - Successors

Controlled entry: The user can enter row numbers of predecessor or successor tasks to create dependency relationships.

Invalid relationships are cleared automatically.

PMLink

Controlled entry: Links the task in WBS to a phase or milestone in PDWare Portfolio.

Values must be of the form "P01" to "P15" or "M01" to "M30".
